Free Services and Support

Wellness Place provides free services and compassionate support to individuals and their families dealing with cancer, including:

  • Free wigs and head coverings
  • Travel assistance (referral required)
  • Lodging assistance
  • A room at Colonial Vista for patients receiving cancer treatment (referral required)
  • Free/discounted prosthetics and undergarments
  • Community education
  • Nutritional supplements (referral required)
  • A support group for women surviving cancer (takes place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m., with lunch provided).

Wenatchee Valley Medical Center and its Cancer Treatment Center are affiliates of Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), which brings together the best of three internationally renowned cancer-care institutions: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, UW Medicine and Seattle Children's Hospital.

SCCA's Purposes:

  • Support the conduct of cancer clinical research and education.
  • Enhance access to improved cancer interventions.
  • Advance the standard of cancer care, regionally and beyond.

A major focus of SCCA is to speed up the transfer of new diagnostic and treatment techniques from the research setting to patient care. The highly integrated approach to cancer research and treatment among SCCA partner organizations supports the flow of scientific information among researchers, clinicians and patients, thereby accelerating the development of new knowledge and treatment of various cancers.
