Research

The Clinical Research Department at Wenatchee Valley Medical Center is a fully integrated division within the medical facility. The department serves as a link between the physicians and the patients to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

About Clinical Research Trials

Clinical Research is a scientific study that tests the effectiveness and/or safety of a medical treatment, drug or device with patients. An Institutional Review Board reviews all clinical trial protocols and patient consent documents to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. Clinical trials are well controlled, systematic projects, which give patients an opportunity to participate in cutting-edge medical treatments not yet available on the market.

There are no patient charges for medical services rendered to participants of clinical research trials. Medical tests and physician services associated with the trial, in addition to the substance, procedure, or device being tested, are provided to participating patients. Some trials also include a stipend, to be paid to participants for their involvement in the project as reimbursement for time and travel. This amount varies, depending on the nature of the trial and the patient involvement.
