[About WWAMI] =What is WWAMI?= WWAMI is a partnership between the University of Washington School of Medicine and the states: Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho (take the initials and you get WWAMI). This partnership provides publicly supported medical education to students from these five states. WWAMI started in 1971 with four states and in 1996 Wyoming joined. Students from Alaska, Montana, Idaho Washington and Wyoming take their first classroom based medical education in their home state at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, Montana State University, University of Idaho and the University of Wyoming. In addition twenty students are taking classes in Pullman and another twenty are in Spokane. All of the students then join in Seattle for their second year of classroom based learning. Still confused? Check this link: UW WWAMI =What Clerkships are available?= Medicine 665 has been offered in Wenatchee since 1982. You will spend two weeks working alongside one of our hospitalists at Central Washington Hospital. The rest of your time is spent in outpatient internal medicine working one on one with your preceptor. If you are interested we can frequently arrange for you to spend a week working with a medicine subspecialist. Family Medicine 640 has been offered in Wenatchee, since July 2010, with the “Wenatchee Area Physicians” consortium. You will spend 6 weeks primarily in one of the following practices: Wenatchee Family Practice, Central Washington Hospital Family Physicians, Columbia Valley Community Health, and the East Wenatchee Clinic. It has been offerend in Omak since 1973. You will work in our Omak & Tonasket branches. Pediatrics has now been offered since the summer of 2009. This is a six week clerkship working with our six person pediatric group. The experience is primarily outpatient pediatrics although rounding on inpatients in the pediatric ward at Central Washington Hospital does occur. |

Obstetrics/Gynecology became a clerkship in the summer of 2011. This is a six week clerkship working with our six physician OB-GYN group. It combines outpatient OB-GYN along with outpatient/inpatient/surgical obstetrics and gynecology. Emphasis is on hands-on experience in general OB-GYN. Neurology is now a required fourth year clerkship. We began offering this opportunity in the fall of 2007.
